The Story Behind KaiROS
Built to cure our own family's scheduling chaos.
To the families running on empty,
As a data & platform engineer, I spent my days building massive, scalable cloud infrastructure to keep complex data perfectly organized. But at home, managing our schedules (especially all the data coming in from anywhere & everywhere) was a different story.
When my wife returned to teaching full-time, we found ourselves buried just trying to keep track of who went where and when. Between paper flyers, scattered emails (and follow-ups) from coaches, and text threads with grandparents, the mental load was exhausting.
I realized that Big Tech calendars were built for businesses, not modern families. We needed an automated logistics hub with the data at their fingertips. A tool that actually lifts the burden of entering events, organizing the details, and keeping the whole village in sync.
That is why I built KaiROS.

The Journey to KaiROS
September 2025
The back-to-school breaking point. Tired of manually typing in schedules, the first lines of code are written. It didn't start as a full offline mobile app—it started with a single, simple goal: snapping a photo of a paper flyer to instantly extract and create a calendar event.
November 2025
Realizing that existing calendar apps just shoved crucial logistics into a messy "notes" section, I decided to build a custom calendar infrastructure from the ground up to treat drop-offs, pickups, and packing lists as first-class data.
December 2025
Testing expanded beyond our own house. I invited close family and friends to join the app, which sparked the development of granular, secure event sharing to keep our extended "connected village" in sync without oversharing.
Early 2026
The offline-first rewrite. We realized parents need their schedules even when cell service drops at a remote soccer field. Transitioning the app to a true offline-first architecture broke a lot of things and took months to rebuild, but the result was a lightning-fast, perfectly reliable experience anywhere you go.
Summer 2026
Paper flyers were solved, but what about the endless coach emails? We integrated Gmail extraction so users could auto-sync or forward messages directly to the app. We also introduced "Deadlines" to track important due dates without cluttering up the daily calendar view.
September 2026
Going global. After perfecting the core infrastructure and launching a brand new web experience, KaiROS officially expands outside the US, bringing our automated family logistics hub to households in Canada, the UK, and Australia.
